Note for setting up Kubuntu 18.04 then Window7 My laptop(T480) current status is setup with Kubuntu without UEFI enable. Until I find the way to do that I will leave it like this. First, I setup Kubuntu with this layout 3 partitions (all /dev/sda) (pri)/dev/sda1 as /root (log)/dev/sda2 /dev/sda5 as /home (pri)/dev/sda3 as swap Got 1 space left, size around 450gb, leave it unformatt. Then I got  usb (window7 extracted) plug, then reboot the machine. Let window installer format and use that space. When It's done, It's reboot. Then I come to d.step. My laptop can boot only Window7. Here are the rescue steps Find one Linux extracted USB (probaby made from Unetbootin) Boot with it (I am in LiveCD mode), then grab boot-repair from some of instructions from site below https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair Do what's site guide, then I got Grub menu and Kubuntu back. But window gone. It's ok, boot laptop to Kubuntu, setup boot-repair by ...

Change GTK2 Themes to Clear Plastic than oxygen-gtk is make Terminator looks better :)

Currently, I use Kubuntu 13.04. I can't remember when I started found border of Terminator gone. But I found some tip from jippie that suggest to change gtk2 theme to other that oxygen-gtk. Then WOW Its look better, Still borderless but NO space between application's window and viewport ( i try to describe view-region in our display ). Yeh Thank  http://askubuntu.com/questions/377133/does-borderlessmaximizedwindows-false-still-work-with-kubuntu-13-10 *** some info in that link said like So, this feature was added to the oxygen window decoration. Unfortunately, this change didn't make it into the 4.11 release, so we'll have to wait until KDE 4.12 in kubuntu 14.04 (see  bug 324011 ). so I will waiting for it.

Kubuntu is too slow in updating content during resizing window!!!

Hi Siraset and Friend     I often found this problem ( kubuntu 's too slow in updating content during resizing window ). It's show a bad pixel or texture when do quickly resizing window. I end up with reinstall kubuntu, graphic driver many times. This is a things that I found when idea about turn off all DESKTOP EFFECT then try resizing and see if that damn problem occur or not. Finally I found nothing bad. Graphic during resizing is good even in high resolution and high cpu mode. So I begin to try to turn on each one effect and see which one is ruin my system. I cannot remember which one is the damn but currently I can select the effect that 's not ruin my system. So this is my concern, if you found problem like this let's turn off all effect and try one on one.

New to Kubuntu 12.10 with my old ATI

If you have ATI graphic card 2xxx-4xxx like me. You will found problem such as kubuntu can not find you graphic card adapter. It's pain. I spend my time google then I have got keyword "fglrx-legacy-driver". Googling it then something like this come up!!  http://www.ubuntuvibes.com/2012/10/how-to-install-amd-catalyst-legacy.html  . I tried it and it's works. Currently I use external monitor , that doesn't not work now. I just something I found during googling are make your kubuntu know you have attached external monitor run kdesudo amdcccle goto display manager then check if you see 2 screens active (that's a good luck) goto terminal, run command sudo aticonfig --initial ( hope you will get xorg.conf which contain detail of current state ) reboot then wish you luck

Do vertical align for multiple display in kubuntu

I gather information and detail from google. The first thing i did is about ~/.kde/share/config/krandrrc [Display] ApplyOnStartup=true StartupCommands=xrandr --output LVDS --pos 0x1080 --mode 1920x1080 --refresh 60.0147\nxrandr --output CRT1 --pos 0x0 --mode 1920x1080 --refresh 60\nxrandr --output CRT1 --primary [Screen_0] OutputsUnified=false UnifiedRect=0,0,0,0 UnifiedRotation=1 [Screen_0_Output_CRT1] Active=true Rect=0,0,1920,1080 RefreshRate=60 Rotation=1 [Screen_0_Output_LVDS] Active=true Rect=0,1080,1920,1080 RefreshRate=60.0146789550781 Rotation=1 then I found more that I must have script when start up that should be in /etc/X11/1920x2.sh mine is (copy from ~/.kde/share/config/krandrrc xrandr --output LVDS --pos 0x1080 --mode 1920x1080 --refresh 60.0147 xrandr --output CRT1 --pos 0x0 --mode 1920x1080 --refresh 60 xrandr --output CRT1 --primary and the last is /etc/X11/xorg.conf mine is  Section "Monitor"     Identifier ...

Empty trash in linux by command line

rm -rf ~/.local/share/Trash/files/*

When I talk to xorg.conf gentlely :)

I just setup new kubuntu on my machine. And found that does not work fine with multiple display at the first time. So I try to find the good way to do that. After I googled for 1-2 days Kirit told me to look at his friend post about config xorg.conf. Actually I tried another one 'krandrrc' in ~/.kde/share/config/ but it seem like hard to understand in short time. So I think should be better with kirit 's friend way. But i won't post the config in this post yet. Will be next post. :)

Great font - settings for Kubuntu

May be we have have to check Kubuntu-restricted-extra pack for liberation If not, let's get standalone >> sudo apt-get install ttf-liberation then change the system font by going to System-Settings/Appearance/Fonts and click Adjust all fonts -> select liberation sans from the list and fixed width -> Liberation Mono for that time I use - "Use anti-aliasing: Enabled, check Use sub-pixel rendering>RGB, Hinting style:Slight" - "Force fonts DPI> 96 DPI" then make this to .fonts.conf file in your home directory rgb true hintslight true this above is for GTK application. That's all :) Cool stuff and fonts goes smooth ( ps - for font-setting : fixed width i select liberation mono instead of monospace - this is good for thai language:) ) SUPREME THANKS FOR (http://bigbrovar.aoizora.org/index.php/2010/01/16/my-smooth-fonts-se...
